SE OPP Wawa – Male arrested after theft of gas

On Friday, May 5, 2017, at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachments were notified of a theft of gas from a local Wawa business. Police were given a description of both the motor vehicle and its male driver. Officers on general patrol located the motor vehicle in question traveling northbound on Highway 17, the vehicle was stopped approximately 35 kilometers south of White River.

As a result Anthony A. RENNARD (30) of Scarborough Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences;

  • Adult – Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Adult – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000-in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Adult – Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 7333.1(1) of the CC
  • Adult – Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused was held into custody for bail hearing in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario on May 8, 2017.
