MTO Office Assaulted by Truck Driver at Spragge Weigh Scales

On May 3, 2017, shortly after 2:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that occurred at the Ministry of Transportation Spragge weigh scales at the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 108 in the in the Township of the North Shore.

 

Police determined that a Ministry of Transportation officer was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection when the officer was physically assaulted by the long haul truck driver. As a result of the investigation, Michael HARRINGTON, 58 years of age, from Thessalon, Ontario, charged with: Assault a Peace Officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 13, 2017.
