Peacefully at the Lady Dunn Health Centre on Thursday, August 28th, 2003 after a valiant fight with cancer. Myrtô will be greatly missed by her husband Garrett Stockton, and their children Brenda (Marcus), Roger (Cathy), Michele, Victoria “Vicky” (Glen) and David (Darla). Her grandchildren will miss their “Grandmamma”; Katherine, Cameron, Garrett, Braedon, and Brianna. She will be missed by her mother, Léonne (Lucien); and her brothers and sisters, Ginette (Paul-Gilles), Gaetan (Micheline), Celine, Sylvain (Carole) and Linda. She goes now to heaven to join her father, Roger Lavergne and brothers Serge and François.
Myrtô was born in the small village of Ste. Flore, PQ on August 14, 1946. After completing her schooling as an Electrical Technician the first female graduate, she put her career aside to raise her children in Detroit, Michigan. In 1973, the family moved to Wawa, Ontario where Myrtô and Garrett owned and operated Camp Michi-Wawa until the late 1990s. During the school years of her children, Myrtô became a member of the Separate School Board, and was involved with the Scouts Akela and Girl Guide Leader for many years. Later, she rejoined the workforce becoming a French Language Court Interpreter and also served with the Sheriff’s Department. Myrtô was an avid gardener, quilter and served her God with a “quiet” faith. She inspired a love of reading in her children, and encouraged them to reach for the stars. We will look for her there.

Flore, PQ.
