CASE, Sandra

June 24, 1942 – September 14, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Case on September 14, 2026, at the age of 84.

Sandra was the proud mother of Jody (Todd), Debbie (Maurice), Carl (Lucille), Tania, and Joey (Brooke); a much-loved grandmother to 14: Carlee, Heather, Jade, Taylor, Brandon, Madisson, Jarret, Josh, Bradley, Dylan, Aubrey, Brock, August, and Henry; and great-grandmother to 5: Angelo, Olivia, Miller, Sonny, and Leah. Family was at the centre of Sandra’s life, and over the years, that family grew to include many more.

She shared 25 years with her loving partner, Danny Mathias, who remained faithfully by her side. She was also warmly welcomed into Danny’s family, where she became fondly known as “Ta.”

Sandra’s family was not defined by blood alone. Through her cherished friendship with Pat, her children gained another mother figure, and, in time, her grandchildren gained another grandma. Affectionately known to us as “Grandma Pat,” she became family through the years of love, care, friendship, and memories she shared with Sandra and all of us. We are incredibly grateful that Grandma Sandra’s friendship with Pat gave our family the gift of another grandma to love, and one who loved us right back.

Sandra was predeceased by her daughter, Debbie, as well as her brother, Tom, and sister, Joan. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.

Sandra spent 17 years working for Canada Post. She also had a talent for upholstery, which she pursued on the side, and spent many years catering alongside her dear friend Pat. She was hardworking, capable, and creative, and could turn her hand to just about anything. She was a wonderful cook, and her family will forever associate Grandma’s house with the comfort of a good meal and something waiting in the kitchen. She was an honorary block mom and, over the years, babysat nearly every child, now an adult, in Wawa and beyond.

Sandra’s door was rarely closed to anyone who needed her. Her home saw children and grandchildren come and go, family members return when they needed somewhere to land, and countless friends and boarders welcomed through the years.

From that life, she built a large, close-knit, and slightly crazy family that remains one of her greatest legacies. Sandra leaves behind generations of people who knew what it meant to have a place at her table and a place to call home.

She is deeply loved, greatly missed, and will be remembered in the countless stories and gatherings that will continue because of her.

A very special thank you goes to the staff of Lady Dunn, who cared for Sandra during the final chapter of her life. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of your “Queen.” Sandra was a firecracker, and we know she kept all of you on your toes. Our family will be forever grateful for the exceptional care you gave her, even if she didn’t always make it particularly easy for you.

It brought us tremendous comfort knowing that the people caring for her truly knew her and embraced her exactly as she was. Thank you for laughing with her, caring for her, and loving our Queen right alongside us. What you gave Sandra and our family will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #429.

Donations in Sandra’s memory may be made to Lady Dunn Health Centre – Long Term Care or the Alzheimer Society.

Arrangements entrusted to Kerry Funeral Home Ltd., Wawa.
