The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with stunt driving after a traffic stop on Highway 17.
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., officers from the Wawa OPP were conducting moving radar enforcement on Highway 17 in the town of White River. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at 105 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped, and the 48-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, in Wawa at a later date.
The OPP continues to remind motorists that excessive speed significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a collision. Drivers are urged to obey posted speed limits and adjust their driving to road, traffic, and weather conditions.
