The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising that Highway 102 has now been fully reopened following a fatal single-vehicle collision involving a full-size SUV that left 2 individuals deceased and 1 injured.
The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team have completed their on-scene investigation, and normal traffic flow has resumed in both directions.

Members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a single vehicle fatal collision.
On Friday, August 28, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m. EDT, OPP officers along with emergency medical services responded to reports of a collision involving a full-size SUV on Highway 102 near Silver Falls Road.
Two individuals, a 67-year-old male and a 48-year-old male both from Thunder Bay, were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third individual was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A section of Highway 102 between Sistonens Corners and Mapleward Road is expected to be closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team conduct their investigation.
