  • Tonight – Cloudy. 40 percent chance of flurries early this evening then 40 percent chance of light snow late this evening. Snow beginning near midnight. Local amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind up to 15 km/h. Temperature steady near minus 9. Wind chill near minus 15.

News Tidbits: It’s been a tough week in the mining industry. On February 3rd there was the sudden death of a 59-year-old contract worker on Vale’s property. Emergency responders were unable to resuscitate the individual and the man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development was told of a missing worker from Major Drilling in a remote area near Kirkland Lake Gold’s Taylor Mine in the Matheson and Val Gagne area, east of Timmins. OPP, emergency medical services, Matheson Fire Department and mine rescue units responded to a location in Taylor Township on Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. There has been no further information released.
