Northeast Forest Fire Region
There were six new fires discovered in the Northeast region by mid-afternoon on June 18. There are eleven other active fires in across the Northeast region, of these four are not under control, two are being held and five are under control.
Wawa 3 is 0.5 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. This fire is located north of Missinaibi Provincial Park.
Kirkland Lake 6 is 50 hectares and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located northeast of Browning Lake and west of Holmes Lake. Four crews and two overhead staff have been assigned to this fire. Air attack has been utilized June 17 and 18 to aid suppression efforts.
The fire hazard today ranges from high to extreme in the central and northern portion of the region, while areas in the southern portion of the region, as well as the far north, are showing a low to moderate hazard.
Northwest Forest Fire Region
One new fire was discovered in the northwest region by the late afternoon of June 18. At the time of this update there were 31 active fires in the northwest region. Five fires were not under control, eight fires were being held, eight fires were under control and 10 fires were being monitored. Four fires were called out today.
The wildland fire hazard in the region ranges from high to extreme in the Fort Frances sector, moderate to high through most of the Kenora, Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Thunder and Nipigon sectors. A low hazard prevails through much of the far north.

Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says the American and Canadian governments are extending restrictions on non-essential international travel until July 21. Details are expected on Monday.
