On August 19, 2026, at approximately 11:54 p.m., a member of the Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment conducting traffic enforcement utilized a RaDAR speed measuring device and observed a white Chrysler Pacifica travelling at 113 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer observed a 3 year-old child not properly secured in a child seatbelt. The officer also observed two adult passengers lying in the rear of the vehicle, not occupying positions equipped with seat belts.
As a result of the investigation, the adult passengers, aged 22 and 30, of Selkirk, Manitoba were charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Passenger Fail to Occupy Position with Seat Belt
The 31-year-old driver from Selkirk, Manitoba, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
- Fail to Ensure Toddler Properly Secured
In addition, the driver received a 30-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
