Two new wildland fires were confirmed in the Northeast Region today:
- Sudbury 49 (SUD049) is 0.5 of a hectare and located approximately 0.9 of a kilometre east of Highway 69, and 4.5 kilometres north of Byng Inlet. The fire is being held.
- Sudbury 50 (SUD050) is 1 hectare and located approximately 0.5 of a kilometre west of Chiniguchi Lake, and 0.65 of a kilometre east of Sandy Lake. The fire is not under control.
There are currently 44 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of these fires: 2 are not under control, 3 are being held, 1 is under control and 38 are being observed.
