Join Kelly and Anahi to learn about their impressive adaptations and behaviours, and how you can help to protect the watersheds they depend on.

ART WORKSHOP: A SPLASH OF COLOUR – Hidden below the surface of Lake Superior’s cool waters is a shimmering world of colour and clever camouflage. Join Claire and Tessa to get inspired by the beautiful fish that call the park home and learn fun techniques for painting patterned scales and fins. Painting supplies will be provided. All ages welcome.

NATURE CONNECTION: BEAR AWARE – Campground or Black Bear habitat? You’re standing in both! Join Ari for a meaningful conversation about living alongside Black Bears and discover practical tips to keep your campsite safe—for people and bears.

EVENING PRESENTATION: VOYAGE OF A VOYAGEUR – The unique work and lifestyle of the voyageur have been the subject of songs, stories, and legends. Join Aidan and Colin to learn about the life of a voyageur during the fur trade and how the surrounding landscape and people shaped their culture.

TELESCOPE OBSERVING: SEESTAR – Join Ari and Claire to observe the stunning night sky over Rabbit Blanket Lake through our digital SeeStar telescope! Explore a variety of dark sky objects including constellations and asterisms, galaxies, star clusters and nebulae. Please consider walking instead of driving to this event to minimize light pollution from car headlights. Also, avoid using flashlights near the observing area to preserve the group’s night vision.

NATURE CONNECTION: TREE APPRECIATION – Every tree has its own story to tell. To ‘hear’ it, all you need to do is pay attention. Take a moment to pause, appreciate their presence, their gifts, and the feelings they inspire. Record and celebrate your discoveries in the nature journal provided. All ages are welcome.
10:00 AM Rocky Point, Agawa Bay
GUIDED HIKE: MINDFULNESS WALK – Take a meditative walk with Tessa and Anahi through Lake Superior’s coastal forest. We’ll “shake off the road dust” and tune into our surroundings by practicing attentiveness and compassion towards the biodiversity that surrounds us, and finish with a guided meditation. This short walk will begin at the southern end of Agawa Bay Campground. Please sport sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.

MEET THE NATURALIST: OWL ‘BOUT THAT – “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you alllll.” Often heard between dawn and dusk, owls are mysterious raptors of the night. Join Kelly and Aidan to discover the world of owls, what makes them one of the best hunters in the forest, and why they are so important to Lake Superior Provincial Park.

NATURE CONNECTION: AQUATIC INVESTIGATION – Dive into the wonders of aquatic life! Grab a net and explore alongside Ari as you search for creatures big and small. From tiny fairy shrimp to majestic Great Blue Herons, every discovery is worth celebrating. Don’t forget to record your findings in your nature journal! All ages are welcome. For safety reasons, nets will only be given to adults, who will be responsible for supervising their use.
