On July 19, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a black Jeep all over the road travelling eastbound on Highway 17. A short time later, another call reported the black Jeep had crashed into the ditch. Police attended and subsequently arrested the driver. It was also learned the black Jeep was stolen, which was later towed and impounded.
Sukhjeet Singh SEKHON , 20-years-old, from Calgary Alberta, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired by drugs
- Careless driving
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 4, 2025.
The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
