Dryden OPP – CMV Driver Charged with Dangerous Operation after Collision closes highway

The Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a driver following a single-commercial motor vehicle (CMV) collision that temporarily shut down Highway 17 in Dryden.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., Dryden OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17 between Johnston Road and Glengold Road, where a CMV trailer had rolled over and caught fire. The fire was contained and both CMV occupants were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Pawaninder Singh SANDHU, 38 years old of Guelph, was charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Highway 17 was closed in both directions between Highway 594 and Leach Road as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted with the investigation. The roadway reopened shorty before 1:00 p.m.
