News Tidbits:

• Sad to hear that John Robbins, author of Diet for a New America (an exposé on connections between diet, physical health, animal cruelty, and environmentalism) and founder of the Food Revolution Network, passed away this past week. He left behind the Baskin-Robbins fortune to champion a more ethical, sustainable, and compassionate world.
• Not surprising to read the statistics from Petsmart’s Pet Care Study. They found that half (50%) of Canadian pet parents have either skipped or declined necessary veterinary care for their pets citing financial reasons as the primary barrier, but distance to veterinary clinics also plays a critical role — the farther pet parents must travel, the more likely they are to forgo care. We are blessed in Wawa with two vets that provide care on a monthly (Simpson), and weekly (Boyer).
