Police have opened the highway in both directions.
On May 10, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Cartier Fire Service and Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services, responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 144, Unincorporated Territory, north of Sudbury.
The lone driver, a 43-year-old-person from Sudbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The highway was closed in both directions four about eight hours, while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (T.I.M.E.) attended to assist in the investigation.
