Celebrate Bushplane Day on Saturday!

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) invites the whole family to Bushplane Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual celebration honours the legacy of aerial firefighting and bush flying with a full day of hands-on activities, live entertainment and an up-close look at the aircraft that helped shape the region.

The day’s highlight is an MNR CL-415 Water Bombing Demonstration at 11 a.m., giving visitors a rare chance to watch a water bomber in action. Guests can also get up close with the Centre’s collection of historic bushplanes, enjoy live entertainment, and take part in activities designed for kids of all ages.

“Bushplane Day is one of our favourite days of the year, it’s a chance for the whole community to come out, see these incredible aircraft up close, and celebrate people and stories behind the planes and our forest fighting heritage,” said Jonathan Coulman, Executive Director of the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. “We can’t wait to welcome families to the hangar this Saturday.”

Admission to Bushplane Day is by donation to support the Bushplane Museum and its Future Impact Project. The event runs rain or shine at the Centre’s hangar location at 50 Pim Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
