The OPP encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about personal safety and the importance of reporting any interaction that makes them feel uncomfortable. Youth should be reminded to seek assistance from a trusted adult, coach, parent, or event staff member if they ever feel unsafe or encounter a situation that causes concern.
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to remain engaged during community events and remind youth that they can report any concerning behaviour, comments, or interactions without fear of getting in trouble.
