East Algoma OPP – Charges laid after Drug Warrant Executed

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at an apartment on Beckett Boulevard in Elliot Lake.

As a result of the warrant being executed, approximately 384 grams of suspected crack cocaine (approximate street value $77,000), nunchucks, a digital scale, packaging material (dime bags), approximately $2700 in cash, and four cell phones were seized.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine, East Algoma Crime Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.

Brandon MACDONALD, 36-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Tevontay REID, 28-years-old, of no fixed address was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Breach of Recognizance (two counts)

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 11, 2024.
