5:07 AM EST Saturday 05 February 2022
Weather advisory in effect for:

  • Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake

Winter weather travel advisory in effect beginning this evening.

Hazards:
Snow, heavy at times. Peak snowfall rates of 1 to 2 cm per hour are possible which can reduce visibilities.
Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected by Sunday evening. Locally higher snowfall amounts are also possible especially for areas near Lake Superior.
Slippery road conditions.

When:
This evening through Sunday evening.

Discussion:
Snow is expected to begin early this evening and continue through Sunday. This snowfall is due to a low pressure system, an Alberta Clipper, that is expected to track east across the region tonight through Sunday.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
