There were no new fires in the Northeast Region by late afternoon on October 1. There is one active fire in the region, it is being observed. The fire hazard is low across the Northeast Region.

On October 22, buildings across the province will be lit up in purple and blue in recognition of the contributions people with disabilities make to our communities and workplace.

Starting today, the Ontario government is providing a temporary targeted wage increase of $3/hour for approximately 50,000 eligible workers that deliver publicly funded personal support services in Long Term Care.

Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Dirk Huyer, Chief Coroner for Ontario and Coordinator of the Provincial Outbreak Response, and Matthew Anderson, President and CEO of Ontario Health, to make an announcement at 1 p.m.
