Investigation into Human Remains Continues at Montreal River Harbour

On July 30, 2017 at approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were notified of found human remains.

The Superior East OPP began an investigation under the direction of Inspector Rob Matthews with the assistance of the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Forensic Identification Service, Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unit, members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and the office of the Chief Coroner. The Ontario Forensic Pathology will also be attending the scene today to assist with the investigation.

There are no further details at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
