Just before 10:30 this morning, the Wawa Volunteer Fire Department was called to a residence on fire on Winston Road.
When Wawa-news arrived, there was smoke coming out from beneath the east eaves, and the garage door was laying inside the garage. Firefighters had to remove stuff from the front porch to enable easier entry to the residence.
In a very happy note, firefighters were able to retrieve two dogs from the building, and neighbours kept them until a family member could come and take them.
Firefighters were at the residence for just over an hour before they left. There appears to have been significant damage to the garage, if not the residence.
