The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment are advising motorist that due to local heavy rainfall a section of Highway 17 approximately 15 kilometers North of Wawa has been washed out, as a result the Highway between Wawa and White River will remain closed until further notice. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) have been notified and will attend the area to assess the situation before this portion of Highway 17 can be reopened.
The OPP are requesting that the public remain away from this area. This will allow road crews to work as quickly and as safely as possible. The O.P.P. will distribute details and updates of the road advisory as information becomes available.
Please do not call O.P.P. Provincial Communication Centres for road advisory updates or road condition information.
