Hwy 17 (Terrace Bay – Nipigon) Closed

UPDATE (Schreiber Fire Department) 740 hrs: Fire Department cleared scene. Traffic flagging handed over to MTO.

ON511 is still reporting that the highway is completely closed.

At 4:10 a.m. ON511 reported that a collision on Hwy 17 has closed the highway in both directions between HWY 11 (E JCT) – NIPIGON, Nipigon and TERRACE BAY W LTS SIGN, Schreiber.

Terrace Bay Fire/Emergency Services has posted (5:54 a.m.)  that Schreiber and Terrace Bay Fire Departments, OPP and SNEMS are on scene of a transport trailer unit roll-over on Hwy17, KM 722 at Hill 19 (East of Pays Plat). Highway is closed. Expect delay for clean-up.

NW OPP updated at 6:31 that Hwy 17 remains fully closed in both directions between Nipigon and Terrace Bay following a single transport truck rollover. Clean-up efforts are ongoing.

The update by Terrace Bay Fire/Emergency Services was updated at 6:33 a.m. to reflect that one lane was open (eastbound only). This may be to clear out traffic caught inbetween the closure area. ON511 states that the highway remains closed.
