At 14:08 the closure has been moved from Heyden to Batchawna Bay (Junction of Hwy 17 and Hwy 563).

“Collision on HWY 17 Both Directions between SEC HWY 563-BATCHAWANA, Batchawana Bay and OPP DETACHMENT, WAWA, Wawa. All lanes closed. — ON511”

From OPP NE Region (13:24) – “Highway 17 is closed between Mills Drive in Wawa to Sault Ste. Marie due to a serious collision in the Batchawana Bay area between a transport truck and a passenger vehicle. The extent of injuries is not yet known.”

ON511 is reporting that Hwy 17 is closed between Waawa and Heyden. OPP are manning the barricade at Pinewood Drive (Wawa). Social media is putting the incident in the Pancake Bay area.

The highway was closed at 12:48 p.m.
