East Algoma OPP – Impaired driving charges laid

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., police observed a red vehicle travelling westbound without a front licence plate attached and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently found to be operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

As a result, the 38-year-old driver from Mississauga First Nation was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, plate improperly displayed

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on November 17, 2026.
