Two new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by the evening of September 2.
- Kenora 35 (KEN035) is located north of Glorious Lake, approximately 2.5 kilometers southwest of Miller Lake. The 0.1-hectare fire is not under control.
- Red Lake 28 (RED028) is located at the northeast end of Detour Lake, and southwest of Lee Lake. The 0.1-hectare fire is not under control.
At the time of this update there are 58 active wildland fires in the Northwest Region. Of those fires, 5 are not under control, 3 are being held, 12 are under control and 38 are being observed.

The Rinker Lake Complex – Thunder Bay 36 (THU036), Dryden 34 (DRY034), Dryden 35 (DRY035)
- All 3 fires in the complex remain classified as “not under control”, which can describe a wide spectrum of fire activity.
- Fire activity across the complex has remained on the lower end of the spectrum in recent days although smoke remains visible in some areas.
- Firefighting crews, supported by helicopter bucketing operations, are focused on suppressing hotspots while demobilizing equipment as required.
- THU036 is currently measuring 301,240 hectares and remains not under control.
- DRY034 is currently measuring 45,800 hectares and remains not under control.
- DRY035 is currently measuring 30,158 hectares and remains not under control.
