17:45 – The Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a passenger bus on Highway 17, approximately 25 kilometres north of Wawa.
On July 11, 2026, at approximately 6:50 a.m., members of the Superior East OPP responded to a report of a passenger bus that had rolled onto its side and entered the ditch. Several passengers reported injuries.
Emergency services attended the scene. Seventeen passengers were transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and were subsequently released.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of the bus has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
The OPP remain at the scene while the bus is being removed. Motorists are advised to expect delays on Highway 17 and to exercise caution when travelling through the area.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-camera footage that may assist with the investigation is asked to contact the Superior East Wawa OPP.
