On Monday, August 10, 2026, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Town of Spanish.
As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had committed criminal acts against their partner.
With the assistance from the Manitoulin OPP detachment a 39-year-old from Walford was arrested on the morning of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
- Assault-spousal
- Utter threats-cause death or bodily harm – spousal
- Criminal harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct
- Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
- Mischief-domestic – two counts
- Flight from police
- Failure to comply with release order- other than to attend court – six counts
The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing with a later court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake.
