It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother Alex on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Alex passed away peacefully with his sister Wende at his side at the Lady Dunn Hospital. Alex was born in Wawa, but spent most of his adult life in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Alex is survived by his sisters Wende (Harley), Janet (Brian) and Dyanne.
Alex became an avid collector of model cars and planes. This sparked his incredible passion for building and creating his own collection with such precision, perseverance and pride. His attention to detail was remarkable. His love of cars was proven when he restored his 1984 Toyota Supra. Every effort was made to maintain the integrity of the Supra’s, making this one of his greatest legacies and a huge source of pride.
In mid-September, Alex was diagnosed with chronic heart failure. He spent time in the Toronto University Hospital until he was fit enough to return to Thunder Bay. He was determined to live the rest of his life on his own terms. His valiant effort took a turn in February when he was admitted into Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
It is with immense gratitude we express our appreciation to Lady Dunn Hospital – especially to Tricia Provost who helped us fly Alex home to be with his family. Our appreciation extends to Toronto University Hospital and Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, the doctors and nurses which cared for Alex during his illness.
At his request, cremation took place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie. Alex did not wish for a service or celebration of life. He only asked that those of you who knew him and loved him, remember him with kindness and fond memories.
To our friends who supported us during Alex’s illness and his passing, we thank you. You have been our strength.
Rest easy Alex.
You will always be loved
My mind still talks to you, and my heart still looks for you, but my soul knows you are at peace.
Arrangements entrusted to Kerry Funeral Home, Wawa.
