Winter storm warning (Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake)

4:12 AM EDT Thursday 31 March 2022
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake

Freezing rain transitions to snow today.

Hazards:
Significant ice build up on some surfaces is possible.
Snow, at times heavy with total snowfall amounts near 15 cm.
Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing:
This morning and ending this evening.

Discussion:
Freezing rain will transition to snow this morning. Snow, which could be heavy at times, combined with moderate winds gusting up to 60 km/h will produce local blowing snow this afternoon. Snow is expected to end this evening.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
