The countdown is on now for the Old Town Hall Concert Series in Hilton Beach, with only six weeks to go until the first performance on Wednesday, August 2nd.
With a modern bluegrass act, an authentic blues group and a multiple award-winning jazz vocalist, this season has something for everyone. The venue has seating for only 250, which makes for an up-close and personal performance that both the audience and the musicians love.
The Andrew Collins Trio is an exciting new “newgrass” (folk/bluegrass) group headed by prolific performer and master of the mandolin, Andrew Collins. With innumerable Juno Award nominations, along with a win just last week of Instrumental Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, this is one act you won’t want to miss.
Blues is always a hit with our audience, so this summer we are thrilled to welcome an authentic Canadian blues group to the Island. Blackburn is literally a band of brothers. With a long family blues tradition, steeped in history dating back to the Underground Railroad, the Blackburn Brothers are fresh off a 2016 Juno nomination for Blues Album of the Year. This is a fun, funky, soul rich act that any blues lover will enjoy.
Emilie-Claire Barlow makes her long-overdue return to the Old Town Hall Concert Series in 2017! When she last graced our stage eleven years ago, she was still early in her career and had one Juno nomination under her belt. Today, Emilie-Claire Barlow is one of the most accomplished and fastest-rising jazz vocalists in Canada, with six Juno nominations resulting in two wins in just the past eight years. Emilie-Claire’s stunning voice has been shared around the world, and we are delighted to welcome her back this summer. This is sure to be an unforgettable evening.
These concerts take place on August 2, 9 and 16, 2017, at 8:00 p.m., in Hilton Beach, St. Joseph Island. Season tickets (all three concerts) are $90 each, or individual concert tickets are available for $37.50 each.
