On March 31st the City of Elliot Lake posted the following information on their Municipal Website:
“The City of Elliot Lake and its local health care partners St Joseph’s General Hospital and the Elliot Lake Family Health Team became aware earlier today of a reported case of Covid 19 in Elliot Lake. Details of the case have not been disclosed by Algoma Public Health, but they have confirmed a positive test result. It is our understanding that the patient is self-isolated following recent travel abroad.
The confirmed presence of the virus in Elliot Lake should serve as a reminder to redouble efforts at self-isolation and physical distancing. There are far too many residents circulating in the community for non-essential reasons. Their actions defy logic and are dangerous to all Elliot Lakers and the overburdened health care system. The city and its partners cannot stress enough the need to flatten the curve and stay home. Lives are at stake.”
