A Toronto man accused of murdering a Sudbury resident near Wawa continues to wait for legal representation.

Houssein Hassan, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Devon Collin, 32. The Nickel City man was shot in Rabazo Township, south of Wawa, in late May, Ontario Provincial Police say. Hassan and Collin allegedly knew each other through the drug trade in Sudbury.

Hassan appeared in bail court on Thursday afternoon via video from Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. He told duty counsel Gary Knox he is “still waiting” on his legal aid application. Hassan said his matter could be adjourned “possibly another week.”

He returns to bail court Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m.

Hassan was arrested at his residence in Toronto on Sept. 10.

A second suspect, Demitri Fortomaris, 22, of Mississauga, Ont., was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

His court date is Nov. 4 in Wawa.
