Surely the past few days have brought thoughts that spring has arrived! One of the sure signs that spring has arrived is the Canadian Cancer Society’s Annual Daffodil Sales Campaign that kicks off the month of April. Of course, April is also Cancer Society Month, when they have their major residential canvassing campaign.
Daffodils in Wawa and Hawk Junction will be available starting Friday, April 1st. The Wawa Goose Club is kicking off the campaign locally, with their Annual Daffodil Tea & Bake Sale, held from 2-4 p.m. The daffodils will be available for purchase there, so come out and enjoy a cup o’ tea, dessert and buy your daffodils.
Daffodils will be available at Haman’s ValuMart on Saturday, April 2nd from 1-3 p.m. They will also be available at Fenlon’s Pharmacy and Sears (on Mackey Street). If you miss these opportunities, they will also be sold at the Post Office during the week. The cost is a mere $6 for ten of these lovely yellow flowers.
The Wawa Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society hopes for your continued support and Jim White, Secretary remarks that, “Isn’t it a nice harbringer of spring to see those bright yellow flowers radiating out at us like the welcome sun after a long winter.” He adds “We also hope for your support during our residential campaign. The canvassers are all lined up and ready to go.”. He asks that community members to please “be as generous as possible when they knock on your door. It is our biggest effort to raise funds for the vital programs and research required to tackle the ongoing goal of finding cures for cancer.”
