The NDP caucus has elected Michael Mantha (Algoma-Manitoulin) as the new caucus chair.
“Having Michael Mantha as caucus chair is a great addition to our NDP team,” said NDP Leader Andrea Horwath. “Michael brings outstanding leadership abilities, and has the full confidence of our caucus – and our thanks for serving in this demanding role.”
The caucus chair is a position that provides leadership to the MPPs, fulfilling duties like chairing internal caucus discussion on bills and priorities. Under Horwath’s leadership, the NDP caucus elected their caucus chair.
“It’s an honour to be chosen by my colleagues as caucus chair,” said Mantha. “I look forward to starting my new role and work with our great team to serve Ontarians, and the great people of Algoma-Manitoulin.”
Mantha has represented the people of Algoma-Manitoulin since 2011. He is the NDP critic for Northern Development and Mines, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, and Tourism, Culture and Sports.
