East Algoma OPP – Assault Charges laid following family dispute

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute involving an edged weapon.

On October 5, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of the East Algoma OPP responded to a family disturbance at a residence on James Street in Iron Bridge.

The investigation determined that the dispute began inside the residence and continued onto the front lawn of the property, where one sibling attempted to stab another sibling with a knife.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., officers arrested the involved individual, who was transported to the East Algoma OPP detachment in Blind River for further processing.

Corey GIESLER, 34 years-old from Iron Bridge was charged with:

• Uttering Threats-cause death or bodily harm
• Assault with a weapon

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 3, 2026.
