$50,000 Reward offered in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Trent Hunter

A $50,000 reward is now being offered in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Trent HUNTER in Wabaseemoong First Nation.

On Saturday, December 11, 2021, at approximately 3:25 a.m., the Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS) and Emergency Medical Services responded to a call regarding an injured person at a residence on Main Street East in Wabaseemoong First Nation. Trent HUNTER of Wabaseemoong First Nation was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The same day, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) was requested to assist with the investigation.

The Government of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Trent’s death. The reward poster and a photo of Trent are attached to this media release.

Trent is one of the missing and murdered Indigenous Peoples whose case continues to be investigated by the OPP to find answers for their families. The cases are listed in the Missing and Unsolved Murdered Indigenous People (MUMIP) report, available at opp.ca/mumip.

The OPP North West Region Crime Unit is continuing the investigation, under the direction of the OPP CIB, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance has also been provided by the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team.
