On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members of the East Algoma detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious person complaint in the area of Provencher Lane and Hudson Street in the Town of Blind River.
Investigation determined the suspicious person was following five youths in a vehicle and attempting to strike them with the car. Earlier, the driver became confrontational and threatened to physically harm them.
Police later located the grey car on Lakeside Avenue, conducted a traffic stop, and subsequently arrested the driver.
Edward MARINOFF, 72 years old from Blind River was charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Uttering threat – cause death or bodily harm
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 5, 2026.
