On Friday, August 28, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a grey SUV that had entered the ditch on Highway 17 near McFadden Drive and Island View Drive in the Municipality of Huron Shores (Thessalon area).
Police attended the scene and determined that neither the driver nor the passenger sustained any injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the 23-year-old driver from Sault Ste. Marie was issued a Provincial Offence Notice and charged with: Careless driving.
