Watermain Break – Boil Water Advisory Lifted

The Wawa Boil Water Advisory previously affecting Superior Avenue, Regina Crescent, Poplar Street, and Birch Street has now been lifted (rescinded).

Recent water samples collected and analyzed were found to be in compliance with provincial regulations, therefore, the Boil Water Advisory issued on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, has now been rescinded. Algoma Public Health has approved the lifting of restrictions on using the municipal water supply, effective immediately.

As a result of the watermain break earlier today. Algoma Public Health and the Muncipality has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the residents along:

• Superior Street
• Regina Crescent
• Poplar Street
• Birch Street

The Municipality of Wawa has issued a public notice, and has advised that “any resident affected may use the Michipicoten Community Centre (MMCC) during this water service disruption to fill water containers or use the public washrooms. The MMCC will remain open this evening and until the water service is restored.

It is unknown when the repairs will be completed but please keep in mind that when the water is back on, please run your taps for five minutes and boil all water to be used for drinking or cooking”.

A water main has broken at the corner of Regina Crescent and Poplar Avenue around 9 a.m.

As a result water services in that area have been shut off. Municipal Infrastructure Services staff are working on repairing the water main.
