On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an employee who had been assaulted by their employer at a food services business within the Municipality of Huron Shores.
The investigation determined that the employee had arrived late for work and a verbal dispute occurred between the business owner and the employee. During the interaction, the employee was struck on the lower back/waist area by the employer.
Police also learned that a similar incident involving the same parties had reportedly occurred in July 2026.
Huimin Zhang, 44 years old, from the Municipality of Huron Shores was charged with two counts of assault.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 14, 2026.
