Between March 25th and March 27th, 2022, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Unit (TIME) and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) conducted a traffic Initiative in and around the junction of Hwy. 102 and Hwy. 11/17 commonly known as Sistonen’s Corner.
This initiative was brought as part of an enforcement and education campaign after several motor vehicle collisions occurred at the intersection in the past year.
The focus was on traffic safety under the Highway Traffic Act and a total of 49 charges were laid during this initiative.
Police would like to remind the travelling public to focus on their safety and others while using the roadway.
