News Tidbits:

  • The see-saw of weather continues… Snow then bitter cold, then snow. The amount of snow has made walking difficult, streets are becoming very narrow, and parking lots are mounds of snow. The amount of snow is wonderful for snowmobilers, but the amount of snow combined with the higher cost of fuel is creating a whole other set of issues. Halfway Haven, announced yesterday that they have had to close their doors.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce the immediate closure of The Halfway Haven Lodge for the remainder of the snowmobile season, effective February 24th, 2022.

There will be NO FUEL, ACCOMMODATIONS OR FOOD SERVICES available, therefore we do not advise travelling the snowmobile trails to the lodge for safety reasons.

Our staff has worked tirelessly to provide a service for the snowmobile community; however, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations effective today.

We thank everyone for the ongoing support and commitment to Halfway Haven, and we look forward to serving our customers in the future.”

  • A Walk in the Woods will be held on Sunday, February 27th. Join us for a snowshoe/walk on the Jim Hoffman trails by the cemetery. There are easy, medium and harder trails, with a hot drink served after. This event is sponsored by the Wawa Goose Seniors’ Club. Please note that this event will occur only if temperatures are -15 or warmer.

Announcements:

  • Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, to make an announcement at 1 p.m. in London, Ontario.
