On January 28, 2022, shortly after 10:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that occurred at a Secondary School on Kensington Road in Johnson Township.
After reviewing video footage provided by the school, police investigation determined a student lunged and pushed the victim through several desks causing the victim to fall on the floor. Before police arrival the accused was suspended and had left the school.
On January 31, 2022, shortly after 8:00 p.m., police located the accused, made an arrest and as a result, a 15 year-old from St. Joseph Island was charged with: Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 14, 2022.
