Manitoulin OPP – ATV Driver Charged with Impaired after Collision

On October 5, 2020, at approximately 9:45 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Vanalstine Road, Baldwin Township.

Prior to police involvement, the driver was transported to hospital. Police who were already at hospital for an unrelated matter, investigated and determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of further testing, the driver, Preston QUINN, 22-years-old, of Webbwood was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
  • Operation While Prohibited – Legal Restriction From Any Other Act of Parliament or Provincial Law contrary to section 320.18(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 30, 2020, in Espanola.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).

OPP
