Ontario Northland Raises $5.5K for Charities Throughout Northeastern Ontario

The festively decorated Ontario Northland Christmas Train did more than spread holiday cheer throughout the north this past year. Through the sale of promotional light-up wands, over $5,500 was raised for charities throughout the north.

Thirteen charities and community organizations including One Kids Place, Northeastern Ontario Child and Family Services Christmas Angel campaign and several food banks were selected by event organizers to receive the funds.

“The response was overwhelming,” says Rebecca McGlynn, Director of Marketing and Communications. “By adding this new element to our event, Ontario Northland has been able to give back to the communities we serve. With the help of all those who attended the events this year, we have raised over $5,500. It was a huge community and volunteer effort that we were proud to be a part of.”

An estimated 5,000 people attended the Brighten the Night Christmas Train events in December. This year the train stopped in 13 communities including Moosonee, Hearst, Cochrane, Englehart, New Liskeard, North Bay and many more.
