Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Pascal Goulet.
Mr. Goulet, 38, died on July 10, 2014, at the Lac Des Iles Mine following a mining incident while working 825 metres below the surface. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Goulet’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last three days and hear from approximately 10 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at the Ontario Government Building, 1st Floor, 189 Red River Rd., Thunder Bay. Dr. Michael B. Wilson will preside as inquest coroner and Robert Kozak will be counsel to the coroner.
