Congratulations to Trish & Her Big Spin

With her family in attendance to cheer her on, Patricia LaLonde of Wawa took a spin on THE BIG SPIN Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to win $100,000!  Patricia won a top prize with OLG’s THE BIG SPIN INSTANT game (#2075).

“When I scratched THE BIG SPIN ticket in the store, I knew I won some money because I saw SPIN on the ticket and the bells went off on the lottery terminal,” explained Patricia. “I thought I won $1,000 but the retailer told me to sit down because I won at least $100,000. That’s when I started to shake, my legs got wobbly and I started to cry.”

It didn’t take long for the news to spread. Patricia, a life-long resident of the northern Ontario community, has a large extended family and volunteers her time at the local hospital.

“I called my daughter to pick me up since I was in shock and couldn’t drive home,” laughed Patricia. “I was having trouble getting in touch with my husband at work, but when I told my family, they were overjoyed! I was so excited that I had to tell my eight brothers and sisters. The phone calls and texts have not stopped.”

So what is Patricia going to do with her unexpected windfall? She is going to invest in her husband’s retirement, help her three daughters and two grandchildren, and complete a few more things on her bucket list.

“I have a book called the ‘Great Canadian Bucket List’, and over the years I’ve traveled across Canada and swam in all the oceans, even the Arctic Ocean! This money will help me fulfil the last few items on the list, like a trip to Dawson City, Yukon. You only go around the track once. Make sure you have fun,” Patricia concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s Wawa on Mission Road in Wawa.
