Wednesday Morning News – April 11

Apr 11, 2018 @ 07:39

Weather – After three beautiful bright sunny mornings it was disappointing to see the clouds and snow – but Environment Canada says only a few flurries ending this afternoon with a high of +3 today. Tonight it will get cloudier and a low of -9. If the skies should clear tonight and you are out and about… watch for the Northern Lights. According to spaceweather.com “A minor G1-class geomagnetic storm is in progress on April 11th as Earth moves through a high speed stream of solar wind. This is causing bright auroras around the poles, with Northern Lights sighted as far south as the Dakotas in the USA.  The gaseous material is flowing from a wide hole in the sun’s atmosphere–so wide that the stream could continue to influence our planet for the next two to three days.”

Roads – all highways are bare and dry.

News tidbits – Today is the Seniors Fair at the MMCC. The Wawa Public Library is holding a music night, and the Wawa Figure Skating Club is holding their year-end skating party and AGM/Awards evening.
